Politically Correct

In Eddie Kantar's Bridge for Dummies, he makes extensive use of the personal pronouns she and her to refer to any bridge player of unspecified sex, in an attempt to be politically correct in the eyes of the militant feminists, who object to the previously standard use of the male pronouns for that purpose. Indeed, the word he makes its first appearance on page 182, presumably as a result of a proof-reading error. Most of Kantar's students are probably women, so this may be a case of majority rules. Back in the middle ages when this reviewer was learning to write, we thought it was chivalrous to allow women exclusive use of their personal pronouns, while relegating the male pronouns to double duty as either male or sex-ambiguous. So in my view, it is Kantar's usage which is politically incorrect. Chivalry will reign supreme on this Website.
